Celestine "Honey" Sellers

Celestine "Honey" Sellers, reached the end of an incredible life on July 23, 2024. Her peaceful transition, greeted the morning sun, as she rested at home in her favorite room. Surrounded by loved ones, she passed with her right hand remaining firmly planted in her bible on the 23rd Psalm. Honey’s life, established by accomplishment, both social and civic began 95 years ago, in Hammond, Louisiana. Her six older sisters stated it was obvious that the youngest daughter of Rosie and Charlie Williams would become a shining star. With a thirst for knowledge, she soared academically. Walking approximately one mile daily to a small two room school, she learned the value of sacrificing to obtain goals. Excelling and graduating early at 16, she would leave home at the end of summer just as her only brother and four of her sisters did, determined to make a difference. With an unwavering commitment to family and teaching, she discovered an inner reservoir of strength that carried her through very challenging times. Even in the face of her beloved husband, Alfred Sellers, Sr.’s unexpected passing, leaving her to raise their three, precious young children, she never faltered. Instead, transforming her grief into a source of inspiration and hope, she began working immediately and enrolled in college. Graduating from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, majoring in Elementary Education, she completed her Bachelor’s degree and was awarded the credential to teach. Honey’s dedication to help shape young minds led to an outstanding 40-year career as a dedicated teacher of kindergarten students. Her passion for education was paralleled by her love for fashion design; a hobby she pursued and styled with amazing skill. Honey is the cherished mother to Alfred and Geary (AKA Mustafa) Sellers and Marsha Aaron (LeRoy). She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse and son, Geary, as well as her six sisters, and one brother. A rich legacy continues through grandchildren; Nicari (Maurice), Jasmeen, Karim (Pia), Geary, Taqiyy (Tunisia), Khadijah (Ernest), Marji (Jai-Sun), and Adina (Roland). Precious memories and celebrated times often included children and grandchildren, also many of her 18 great grandchildren. The beloved, graceful and thoughtful family matriarch, Honey, will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, beautifully handwritten notes, and all of the exceptionally crafted letters with priceless and informative clippings. They are valued as much today as when she first began sharing, adding loving stitches forever interwoven into every fabric of our lives. Her delightful personality was an abundant blessing as she lived life giving, without expectations. It is impossible to count her innumerable gifts of time and financial support, as well as, always having a willing ear to listen and share wisdom. Honey's life was a testament to her commitment to family, education and her community. She was remarkable, is missed exceedingly and will always be remembered! Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00 am at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo for family and friends to celebrate Honey’s life. Internment will follow at All Souls Cemetery, 550 Glen Cove Road, Vallejo, CA. Repast to follow burial.
