Katherine Louise Gianulias

Katherine Louise Gianulias passed away at home of natural causes at the age of 96 where she lived with and for many years was cared for by granddaughter Sherri, great granddaughter Sierra and caregivers Niva Toki & Linda Anderson. Katherine was a lifelong resident of Vallejo born to Greek immigrants, Nick and Mary Bekas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (of 61 years) George, brother James, baby sister Katina, grandson Al, granddaughter Jessica and son-in-law Alfred Brown. She leaves behind a large beloved family including daughter’s Natalie Peretto (John) and Nikki, son Jimmy, Elaine Blomenberg, grandchildren Katherine, Sherri, Sean & Jason Brown, great grandchildren Collin & Tyler Brown, Allie & Alexander Vega & Sierra Kinney. Katherine was born and raised in the “Bay Terrace” neighborhood of Vallejo, and later graduated from Vallejo High School. She went on to attend and graduate from Armstrong Dental Assistant College and began a career as a dental assistant. After a few years she decided to change careers and was hired at the Bank of America Downtown Georgia St. Branch. She became the designated special representative to the grocery stores, and would prepare their daily morning cash drawer pickups. Katherine also known as Katina(and Kay) to her friends, was very involved in the Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. It was at the national convention of the Greek Ahepa Society that she met future husband George. Eventually they married and Katherine became a full-time homemaker and mother. She was an excellent cook and baker who enjoyed bowling and won quite a few trophies. She also enjoyed traveling with Nikki to her youth tournaments and then professional events around the USA. She loved camping with her entire family, playing golf with Nikki & Elaine, but most of all just loved spending time with her family, who always came first to her. May her Memory be Eternal, Eonia I Mnimi, Eonia I Mnimi, Eonia I Mnimi… Visitation is scheduled at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St, Vallejo from Wednesday, April 23, at 4:00pm - 7:00pm, with the Trisagion Prayer Service on Wednesday at 5:00pm. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm on Thursday, April 24, at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1224 Alabama St, Vallejo followed by the Committal Service & Burial at 1:30pm. at All Souls Cemetery, with a Luncheon to follow at the Greek Church Hall. Donations may be made to Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
