LEE WORMINGTON JR. January 14, 1921 – November 15, 2011 Lee “Jack” Wormington, 90, passed away Tuesday at his home in Vallejo with his daughter at his side. Lee was born on January 14, 1921 in Wanette, Oklahoma. He experienced the Dust Bowl and often told stories of it being dark in the middle of the day and wells running dry. As a young man, he came west with his family. He worked in the timber industry in Jackson, California . When the war broke out, he joined the Army Corps of Engineers and was sent overseas. His troup was the first to hit the beach at Normandy. After returning home from the war, Lee moved to Guam to rebuild roads. It was there that he met and married his true love, Ruth. Lee, took his bride and two children, Judy and Bill and returned to Lee’s home state of Okalahoma where they had another daughter, Caroline. It is here that they raised their family and Lee worked as a Construction Supervisor until he retired. He was an avid fisherman and camper and shared this love with his wife, spending many nights on the lakes of Oklahoma. His vegetable garden was the envy of all who saw it. He loved watching things grow and flourish including animals. He was a kind man with many friends. He and Ruth loved throwing parties and dancing the night away. He was known as Daddy to his children and Papa to his grandchildren. He believed that they were capable of great things and would do anything to help them fulfill their dreams. Lee moved to Vallejo a year and a half ago to live with his daughter Caroline and her husband Jack. He enjoyed sitting with his little Dauchound, Cleo. He also enjoyed watching sports with his son-in-law and nephew Billy on the weekends and hanging out with Caroline in the kitchen giving her cooking lessons. He looked forward to his visits from his granddaughter, Amber and her children in the summer. He never complained, was always accepting and not judging. We would ask Daddy are you doing OK and he would answer Oh yeah…oh yeah…We will miss you Daddy and will always remember your smile. Lee was preceded in death by his wife Ruth; daughter, Judy; and three very loved and spoiled weenie dogs, Precious, Tiffy and Pebbles. Survivors include his daughter, Caroline, son, Bill; six grandchildren, Billy, Robin, Amber, Danny, Celeste and Brandy; and twelve great grandchildren.
