Roselyn Helen Wheeler

Roselyn Helen Wheeler was born November 13, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Michael and Helen Curtis. At an early age tl1e family n1oved to Los Angeles, CA where she resided with her parents. Roselyn attended Arlington Heights Elementary and Mt. Vernon Junior High, where she played the violin. Roselyn was very smart in school and appreciated being challenged in the spelling B's, math, reading, english, and history. Roselyn Graduated from Los Angeles High School. While attending L.A. City College she worked at Prudential and Allstate Insurance Companies. Majori11g in Early Childhood Development, she pursued her Bachelor of Arts Degree and taught Elementary School in the City of Inglewood. Roselyn's parents in stilled in her how to love, to be honest, to make st1re your word meant something, always be on time and to have a good worth ethic. Her parents taught her to put God first, have faith in Him for He would never leave you nor forsake you. Roselyn loved spending time with her dad whom she affectionately called her "sports buddy", and when these two are together, yot1 would have to either join in or leave the room. Roselyn accepted Christ at an early aged and was baptized by Reverend Jonathan L. Caston. During this time Roselyn was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Los Angeles. She loved singing in the Choir and later joined a Gospel singing group called the "Rose of Sharon Gospel Singers" t1nder tl1e leadership of Reverend Carl Johnson. Roselyn met Mattie Young at Trinity Baptist Church in 1959, after Roselyn and her fan1ily n1oved fron1 Louisiana. Roselyn's birthday being November 13 and Mattie's birthday being November 12, these two just clicked. Sometimes Roselyn and Mattie would miss class to go to the beach in Santa Monica or to Pacific Ocean Park. They became best friends and remained best friends until Roselyn's passing. When they last spoke, Roselyn wished Mattie a Merry Christmas telling her she loved her and "Be Blessed". Roselyn loved inviting friends over to dinner on Sundays, unannounced but her mother always had enough food for everyone. When you came for dinner you were physically and spiritually fed. Roselyn's compassionate spirit was like a magnet. Everyone was drawn by her love and her loving family as well. Roselyn later met the love of her life George Paul Wheeler Sr., from Dallas, Texas. They were married January 12,1964 and to this union two children were born. Deanine Rochelle Wheeler, and George Paul Wheeler Jr. who shares the same birthday with his mother. Roselyn loved spending time with family and supporting her children and grandchildren's sports activities. She was so proud of Deanine, George and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Roselyn was preceded in death by her father and mother Michael and Helen Curtis, and brother, Michel Curtis. She leaves to cherish in memory her loving and devoted children, Deanine Rochelle Wheeler (Stephan) son George Paul Wheeler Jr. (Isoke), sister Marcel Corbin of Long Beach, Ca, brother Armand Curtis of Los Angeles, Ca. She is survived by her Grandchildren Siron Jones (BriAnna), DeMarriea Jones, Gevon Wheeler (Marissa), Janessa Wheeler, Jaylen Wheeler, Aniya Smith, Zoey Edmond. Great grandchildren A'Aliyah Vizoso, LaTayja Vizoso, A'Ashanti Jones, A'Aniyah Jones, Gevon Wheeler II and Jayani Wheeler. Daughters in love Yvanna and Esperanza. Nephews: Paul (Lavern) Bobby (Bayyinah), Michael. Nieces: Janelle, Tamika, Marja and a l1ost of cousins and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, January 26 beginning at 10 AM. Funeral Services will start at 1PM at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. Inurnment will be private.
