Anne Freitas Gomes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Longtime Vallejoan, Anne Freitas Gomes passed away on February 24, 2022, leaving a legacy of love and compassion generously shared with her cherished family and circle of dear friends. Although Anne’s illness chipped away at her memory, she maintained her gracious spirit and affection for those she treasured. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 17 years, W.R. (Reg) Gomes of Vacaville, son Bret Freitas (Christina) of Chico, daughter Jill Freitas Theobald of Heber City, Utah, stepson John Gomes of Richmond and stepdaughter Regina Gomes of Emeryville. An adoring Nana, she created lifelong memories for grandchildren Jack, Finn and Cash. She was loved by her brothers Eugene Griswold Jr. (Holly) of Moiser, Ore., Lynn Griswold of Vallejo, and family including Tom Freitas (Claudia) of Santa Clara, Jolaine Freitas Collins (Rob) of Fair Oaks, and many nieces and nephews who were all special in her eyes. Anne was born in Ogden, Utah on June 29, 1944 to Arlene Rampton Cherry and Cleo J. Cherry. She moved to Vallejo as a child with her mother and was adopted by Eugene Griswold. Anne graduated from Vallejo High School in 1962, where she served as Student Body President. She was married to Vallejo Realtor Jerry Freitas from 1968 until his passing in 1999. Anne embraced opportunities for adventure, travel and time spent together with her family and longtime friends. Always organized and gifted at details, Anne worked in administration for The Doctor’s Company, the Law Office of Lionel Rodgers Jr., and she began her career at Vallejo’s Wilson Russell Ford Dealership. As a young mother, Anne was active in the Children’s Home Society Little Mermaids Chapter and more recently, the Vallejo Piecemakers Quilt Guild. There will be a private inurnment at All Soul’s Cemetery in Vallejo, followed by a celebration of Anne’s life this summer.
