Bernard Daye Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bernard Daye transitioned to his heavenly home on Wednesday January 19, 2022, at the age of 71 years old. Bernard was born October 31, 1950, to Ezell and Ollie Daye in Oakland, CA and was the first born of five children. He attended schools in Oakland and graduated from Castlemont High School in 1969. Bernard subsequently was drafted into the United States Army in August 1971. In August 1973, he met and married his first wife, Helen Bailey (Jackson) and to this union was born Demetres Nicol Daye. In 1991, he met and married his second wife, Sandra Kaleta, and to this union was born Bernard Ezell Daye Jr. and Alexis Rose Daye. Bernard was a caring man who spoke of his many passions which included: action packed, thrill inducing or laugh out loud movies, sports, and all things music. One could always count on him for a much-needed laugh and for receiving words of encouragement when needed and a constant reminder to “not sweat the small stuff”. His confidence and cool nature were definite qualities he possessed that many strive for in this life. He lived his life working hard, enjoyed helping others especially during the last decade as a Certified Nurse Assistant. He was loved and appreciated by his coworkers as well as his patients he assisted daily. Bernard’s loving memory is celebrated by his mother: Ollie Daye, (his father Ezell Daye preceded him in death in 1991); children: Demetres, Bernard Jr. (Ona) and Alexis; by his grandchildren: Janae’, Austin and Kyrie; great-grandchildren: Mason, Maddison, and Micah; his sister: Dorothy (David); his brothers: Roland, Jerry and Byron. He continues to also be loved by many other family members and friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Due to the COVID pandemic, memorial services will be held privately.
