Edward Thomas “Ed” Kaluza, 80, passed away Tuesday at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo surrounded by his family. Ed was a native and life-long Vallejo resident, born to Andrew and Adele Kaluza on August 8, 1941. He was a track star, football player at and graduate of Vallejo High School. He worked at C&H Sugar for 35 years, retiring as a supervisor and production manager. Ed was a “Man’s Man” who enjoyed travelling the world while fishing and kayaking upon his many adventures. He was fondly referred to by many friends and family as “The Boss”. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepson, Richard Madigan; Brother, Martin Joseph Kaluza; and sister, Louise Rose Maddox Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Helen; daughters, Christine (Ed) Grissom, Sheryl Coburn, Sandra (Steve Kistle) Kaluza, and Marcella Shoemaker; stepdaughter, Angela Madigan; stepson, Gary (Amanda) Madigan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Catholic Prayer Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 9 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery, Vallejo.
