Jacob Lorenz Agno Jabier

September 5, 2007 - April 12, 2022

Jacob Lorenz Jabier was born on September 5, 2007 in Vallejo, California to John and Lorelyn Jabier. As a child, Jacob loved playing soccer, basketball, and tee ball. Even with a cute lisp — which he managed to outgrow — he always placed 1st in his school’s poetry contests. He was a straight A student. He graduated from St. Catherine of Siena school in May 2021 with First Honors, a President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement, and an Academic Excellence Award in Science. His freshman year at American Canyon High School was cut short due to illness, but he actively participated in the school choir and was in Accelerated Math, a subject he loved dearly. Jacob enjoyed his Biotech class and learned how to pronounce his name in Mandarin, among other words. He looked forward to driving a car and hoped to become an engineer someday. In April 2016, he was diagnosed with a type of brain tumor called anaplastic medulloblastoma which came with a very poor prognosis. Nevertheless, he defied the odds after completing a grueling treatment which included radiation and chemotherapy and a multitude of other procedures. He went on to live an adventure-filled life — camping, swimming, sightseeing, traveling to places with his family, of which the most recent were Australia and Singapore. He spent the next six years doing things he loved the most such as playing video games with his little sister and his friends. Minecraft was his favorite game to play. He called himself “The Iron Pirate.” Jacob loved to sing and listen to music, particularly EDM and Pop. He was a talented chess player. He loved to play monopoly with his family, ride his bike, the color teal, his GSW beanie, his XBOX headphones, medium rare steak, calamari, chicken fries, mac and cheese, Oreo McFlurry, his small brown chair that he has long outgrown, and most importantly, his custom gaming computer, which his Uncle Eman built for him from the ground up two months before another tumor called diffused pontine high grade glioma voraciously took ahold of his body in January 2022 after being diagnosed on November 1, 2021. In the midst of his recent battle against brain cancer, Jacob remained faithful and prayerful. Not once did he ever question God throughout his cancer journey. He wanted to keep on going, but his body could no longer keep up with his will to continue. He was tired. Jacob passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022, and is survived by his brother Josh, sister Lauren Julia, his grandparents Carlos and Arabella Jabier and Loreto and Evelyn Agno, his Uncle Eman, our bengal cat Moon, his uncles, aunties, cousins, and his parents who loved him more than anything in the world. Jacob’s endearing smile, infectious laugh, kind heart, and tender spirit will be deeply missed. He continues to inspire and touch many people’s lives with his courage, bravery, resilience, and strong faith in God.
