John Bolton Halbrook November 5, 1960 - July 20, 2017 John B. Halbrook, 66, passed away July 20 at his home in Vallejo following a brief illness. An insightful observer of human nature, John will be remembered for his candor and biting wit. No one could describe a situation as succinctly, yet in an entertainingly dispassionate voice as John. As an authority of vintage movies and culture, John combined ideas and phrases from bygone times to craft statements and stories of current events that were uniquely his own. In recent years John suffered the debilitating effects of schizophrenia. This devastating disease robbed him, his family and friends, of his lively intellect and productive energies. In happier times John enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to music. A bright student, he attended Benicia High School and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. We will always remember the one of kind personality and perspective he brought to this world. John was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kandress Halbrook. His is survived by his father, Wiley; his sister, Andronike; brother, James. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, July 26 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee Street, Vallejo. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution are preferred to Sts.
