John Antonio Marchut

John Antonio Marchut, 97, passed away peacefully Thursday at his home in Vallejo with the presence of his longtime caregivers Susan and Ben Turk at his side. It was their pleasure to share many years with such a gentle, kind, compassionate, spirited and special man. John was born to Polish parents, Mary and Joseph Marchut in Woonsocket, RI. He was the third of five children. He was a proud WWII Veteran serving in the US Navy from 1943-1945. He worked on Mare Island Naval Shipyard in the Design Division for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was an active member of numerous organizations and always looked forward to seeing his friends at the North Bay Rose Society and at Scotty’s Restaurant in Vallejo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella; daughter, Nancy and sons, Richard and Dennis. Survivors include his son, John Jr. (Roberta) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was so pleased to have ended his journey in the comfort of his own home. It is so hard to say goodbye because he was a special blessing in many lives. At his request, John will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, in Dixon, CA.
