Kenton Edison Love

February 7, 1944 - March 15, 2022

Kenton Edison Love passed peacefully on March 15th in his hometown. He was born on February 7, 1944 in Vallejo, California to Clovis and Christine (Green) Love where his father worked on Mare Island Naval Shipyard. Kent attended Federal Terrace Elementary School, Vallejo Junior High and graduated from Vallejo High School in 1962 (this was the highest graduating class with over 760 students). After high school he then joined the Army. He served three years and was stationed at Ft. Ord Basil, Ft. Benning, Ft. Gordon, and Ft. Bragg. He was part of the 101st Airborne with 15 jumps and over 13 months in Korea. After he returned home he earned an AA degree from Solano Community College. Kent retired in 2010, with over 20 years in the business, as a land surveyor, from DK Associates in Walnut Creek and Operating Engineers Local #3. During retirement he wrote a book about his 3 years served in the Arm Services. He also enjoyed white water rafting for over 20 years on numerous rivers in California, Oregon and Nevada with his most memorable trip being 8 days down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. He loved to water ski as well as snow ski and enjoyed deer hunting with friends and family. His 1940 Studebaker was his pride and joy and he could often be seen at car shows from here to Nevada. He is survived by his two children: a daughter Angela Gamblin and her two children Riley and Lindsey and his son Ryan and his two boys Jesse and Levi. Burial will be private at his ancestor’s family cemetery in Boulder City, Newton Co. Missouri. He requests no flowers, please, because, “I have hay-fever and if I sneeze I might scare a few people.” Cremation and arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo (707) 552-6696. www.TwinChapelsMortuary.com
