Louisa "Louise" Steinberger

October 31, 1922 - August 14, 2018

Louisa “Louise” Steinberger October 31, 1922 - August 14, 2018 Once again the Lord has called home one of the last of America's Great Generation. Mom is a native Californian, born in Sanger, that true to the name of Prune Picker lived that life. Working the fields picking grapes and fruit as a young woman and doing time in the canneries processing the crops she harvested. At the outbreak of World War II, mom went into the shipyards doing sheet metal work and became a welder. Mom was a true Rosie the Riveter. After the war, she married and became a mother and house wife. When we moved to Vallejo, mom worked for the Vallejo Unified School District. She later worked for the US Post Office before retiring. Mom was preceded in death by her Grandson Richard Steinberger and her husband Michael Steinberger. She is survived by her children Michael Jr. (Geraldine), Matthew (Joan) and Lorie Steinberger. She has three Grandchildren, Jamie Rohrer (Mark), Marie Steinberger (Kevin Madero) and Kaelin Peralta, four Great Grandchildren, Victoria and Joseph Rohrer, Logan and Brianna Madero. Our family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses that tended to our mom at Kaiser Hospital. Special thanks to Holly and Helen in the My Home My Care Department, what a wonderful program. God Bless Darlena, Raul, Stenson, Tyler and Edith for the loving care they provided for our mom. Mom passed with her family at her side. God broke the mold and just don't make 'em like mom anymore. Funeral service will be held 5 PM Wednesday, August 22 at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. A reception will immediately follow. Burial will be private at All Souls Cemetery, Vallejo. Friend may visit after 3 PM Wednesday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations are requested in her memory to the Richard Anthony Steinberger Scholarship (please make check to St. Patrick - St. Vincent High School and in memo put Steinberger Scholarship fund) c/o St. Patrick - St. Vincent High School 1500 Benicia Rd. Vallejo, Ca. 94591. Arrangements entrusted to the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo, (707) 552-6696 www.twinchapelsmortuary.com
