Salud De Guzman Santos

Family and friends, we remember and celebrate the life of our beloved Salud De Guzman Santos. She was a loving and devoted Daughter, Mother, Mother-In-Law, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-In-Law, Aunt, Godmother, Parishioner, and a true friend to many. With health issues due to liver cancer, Salud passed away peacefully on Sunday January 14, 2018 at her home in American Canyon surrounded by family and close friends. She was 63 years old. She was born on June 17, 1954 in Caloocan City, Manila, Philippines. Her parents were Delfin Martinez Santos and Eusebia De Guzman Santos. She was the middle child of 11 children. She attended Olongapo City National high school. She came to the United States with her younger brother Serafin Santos in 1973 and they lived in San Francisco with their father, Delfin Santos. She was very very ambitious and worked while going to school. She worked at Chance Bridal Veil’s in the Downtown district of San Francisco where she met my grandma, Flavia Suguitan, who we all call “mama”. Mama introduced Salud to her son, Robert Suguitan and they got married in October 1976. Together they had two children. In 1989 they bought a home in American Canyon, California. In 2013 she married Joselito Moreno Santos. Salud Santos was dearly loved by her family. She is survived by her loving husband Joselito Moreno Santos, and her two children Rosallie Anne Icban (Mark) and Dereck Robert Suguitan (Midori). She was adored by her four grandchildren, Julian Jordan Aquino, Amari Maximus Icban, Sora Juliette Suguitan, and Riku Oliver Suguitan, who all brought great joy to her life. Other loving survivors are her sisters Norma Dayrit, Oliva Mancilla, Cora Bautista, Sallie Garces, Mercy Vilale, and Mirasol Pingol, and two brothers Fernando Santos and Serafin Santos. We all celebrate her life. Salud was truly a kind, generous, and loving person to everyone she met. She was very religious and attended Sunday mass regulary. She was very hard working, ambitious, loyal, very resourceful, and also kept herself busy. She was a Psychiatric Technician assistant and worked for the State of California, Sonoma Developmental Center for many years and retired in 2017. Salud was very compassionate and cared greatly for the patients she cared for and loved all of her co-workers. Salud was a strong-willed and determined to give the best to her children and grandchildren. She took pride in her family and loved sharing photos and stories about her grandchildren to family and friends. Salud loved beautiful things and was known for being fashionably coordinated from head to toe. She loved music and some of her favorite musicians were the Beatles, the Dramatics, and Elvis Presley. She loved cooking and loved shopping, especially at Victoria’s secret. She also loved her garden where her husband planted fruit trees, vegetables and flowers for her. She also loved her TFC soaps and watching the Warriors play basketball. During the summer, she loved taking long walks with her husband and their dogs around the neighborhood. Visitation will be held 2-9 PM Sunday, January 21 with a rosary at 7 PM Sunday at Twin Chapels Mortuary, 1100 Tennessee St., Vallejo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Monday, January 22 at St. Vincent’s Catholic Church, Florida and Sacramento Streets, Vallejo. Burial will follow at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
