Susan Lynn Brudney

Susan Lynn Brudney, 55, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home in Fairfield on Christmas Day. Susan was born to William “Bill” and Loretta (Berg) Brudney on Sept. 11, 1962 in Oakland, California and was a lifelong native of the Bay Area. She grew up in Concord/Clayton, California and graduated from Clayton Valley High School in 1980. She received her BA degree from California State University, Chico and her teacher's credential from California State, East Bay. Susan moved to Fairfield almost 10 years ago to be closer to her beloved family. Susan was an angel on earth as she was a special education teacher for severely disabled students and adults for over 30 years in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Susan started at College Park High School in Pleasant Hill and more recently in the MDSD Bridge Program for severely disabled adults. Susan loved Bridge and was always eager to assist students and teachers alike. She always fought for the underdog and truly desired students to have healthy and happy home lives. Everyone who met her loved her including her fellow colleagues, students and their families. Susan had a long history of working with the disabled with the Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek Recreation Departments as well. The love of Susan’s life was her family, especially her mother, Loretta; her brother, Robert; her sister-in- law, Julie; and her beloved nieces, Hannah and Chloe; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Susan loved her dogs equally as much and was heartbroken to lose her beloved Lady earlier this year. Susan is survived by her four legged friends, Callie, Ellie, Bailey and Davis. Trust us that they are all now surrounded in love. Sadly, her father William “Bill” Brudney preceded her in death in 2012. Susan had a giving heart and committed her life to volunteerism. She was a volunteer at Golden Rescue, the Gary Bogue Wild Life Sanctuary and the Downtown Theatre of the Arts in Fairfield, where she loved to see her brother and nieces perform and was often seen dancing in the seats.
