Paul Lee Cullen

Paul Lee Cullen, aged 82, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026 after a short illness. Paul was born in Vallejo, California on July 23, 1943. He attended St. Basil's School, and graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer High School in 1961. While at Saints, Paul competed in track and field, becoming one of Solano County’s best long-distance runners during his Junior and Senior years. He continued his education at Solano Community College, and went on to graduate from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Education. Paul served his country as a member of the US Army National Guard. Throughout the years, he worked in sales at JCPenny’s, and later at Gabriel Shocks. Before his retirement, Paul was the owner/operator of Green Fingers Gardening, and served as a Rosarian Consultant Emeritus of the Marin Rose Society. It was while attending SF State that he met the love of his life, Pamela Dean, who he married in 1976, and with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Paul was an avid San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. He and Pam had 49er season tickets from the 1970s through the late 1990s. Paul continued to be a diehard fan up until the time he passed. Paul also enjoyed attending SF Giants’ games with friends and family. Together, Paul and Pam also enjoyed playing golf, playing bocce ball, and playing with their dog, Niner. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Elaine, wife, Pamela, brother, Leo, and brother-in-law, Ken Elsdon. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Ferguson (Jim), granddaughter, MacKenzie, brothers Tracy, Gary (Teri), Dennis (Denise), sister, Rosary Elsdon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks go out to Grace Larcena and her staff from Marshfield Villa, the Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care Team, Dr. Loi Lam, and Paul’s numerous caregivers at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center. Per Paul’s request, there will be no funeral service, and burial will be private under the direction and care of Twin Chapels Mortuary, Vallejo. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a future time.
